Wednesday Wonder No 13

copyright Paul Henry 2012
In spring of 2012 artist Paul Henry opened a mysterious brown paper parcel (yes, it was tied up with string) to find this book; a discarded copy of the Crime and Detection by E M Wong, published in 1926.

Tattered and broken as it was, Paul nevertheless worked his creative magic on it. Taking the book apart he re-bound it into a mini library, each book bound by hand and with beautiful hand-marbled endpapers.

To investigate this delightful mini library yourself, visit The Library of Lost Books exhibition at The Library of Birmingham, from 5th to 23rd November 2013.
